Retirement Savings Simplified
with New Look, Website.
From everyone at the deferred comp plan, we’d like to welcome you to the new and improved modeferredcomp.org, which also features a new logo and branding system. Why the change? Saving for retirement is a long-term journey requiring personal sacrifice, but also ongoing growth and education as your career evolves and retirement draws ever closer. The new logo, brand and website aim to simplify not only the website user experience, but also the ways deferred comp participants engage with this important employee benefit.
So, what’s changed?
The Logo
For starters, you may notice the new, simplified logo featuring the “MO Deferred Comp” naming system. Per state statute, we’re still known as the State of Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan, but to a majority of state employees we’re known simply as “deferred comp”. Changing the logo and naming convention is an effort to align this important benefit with employee expectations and experiences, ultimately leading to improved recognition among current and prospective participants. As you can probably imagine, it’s difficult replacing all instances of a logo and naming convention that have been in use for many years now, so please be patient as we work to update publications, presentations, websites and a whole host of other materials with the old design and name.
The Tag Line
The deferred compensation plan has been known as a “Smart, Simple Savings Solution,” since around 2008. While that description still certainly holds true, this brand update aims to, well, simplify things. The new tagline reads, “Retirement savings, simplified”. Retirement savings is who we are and simplifying the process as much as possible so that hard working Missourian’s can achieve success is what we strive to do. We hope the new tag line captures that spirit.
The Website
Perhaps the biggest change of all involves the website you’re currently viewing. The previous version of this website was launched in 2009, and a lot has changed in the web world in those seven years. The ways visitors interact with websites and the devices they use to do so are constantly evolving. For instance, mobile device visits to this website increased by 42% between 2014 and 2015, and that trend has continued into 2016. To meet these demands, the updated website is optimized for use on not only a desktop computer, but also on tablets and smart phones. Whatever device you use, we hope the clean design and simple look helps you find what you need. As part of the redesign, we’ve also reorganized a great deal of the site’s content to feature our many educational offerings. View the Website Redesign FAQ below for a brief overview of the major website changes.
What hasn’t changed?
For many visitors, modeferredcomp.org is a gateway for logging on to Account Access to securely review personal account information. Once logged in, visitors will notice that the Account Access portal looks exactly as it did before, aside from the updated logo at the top of the page. That’s because Account Access was not impacted by this overhaul. Likewise, there were no changes to the investment options, costs or general administrative guidelines associated with this savings plan.
Retirement Savings, Simplified
All of these changes are small pieces of a larger overall effort to provide the best retirement savings benefit to state employees of all career stages. Key to that goal is creating education and communication materials that empower state employees to take action. To do that, we recognize the importance of providing a retirement savings plan that makes sense to its participants. We know choosing investment options and deciding on a regular contribution amount that will impact you at some possibly unknown point in the future can be intimidating, so we hope to give you real-world tools to make informed decisions. We hope these changes move the deferred comp plan in that direction. If you have any questions at all about these changes, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 800-392-0925 or via email.
