My name is Kate Kuse, I'm a financial education professional with the state of Missouri's Deferred Compensation Plan. My territory includes the Northeast part of the state as well as several agencies in Coal County. Saving for retirement with Missouri deferred comp is important because simply relying on income from your state pension and social security will not be enough in retirement. You will need to help bridge the gap of income replacement needed and that's where deferred comp will come into play. Some challenges that I see employees deal with on a regular basis is simply figuring out how much income they're going to need to replace in retirement, that's where myself and my team of other Financial education professionals can sit down with you and help run the numbers but also if you wanted to run the numbers yourself we have some really neat calculators on our website. One piece of information that I think all state employees should know is that the state match is funded by the state and it is subject to the approval of the annual budget so it is not guaranteed so you should take advantage of it while you can. But I also would like to mention I have worked in the investment industry for over 16 years and I can tell you that Missouri deferred comp is one of the lowest cost plans in the nation. My favorite part about being a financial education professional is meeting with plan participants one-on-one and helping them review their deferred comp plan. To schedule a one-on-one appointment with me you can call me directly at 573-644-1266 or email me at katek@mosers.org. I look forward to telling you more about the MO Deferred Comp Plan and helping you reach your retirement goals.
