Start Saving & Investing in 3 Easy Steps

In this DC Update, we are going to highlight a popular question and one specifically asked by new employees or those who are currently not saving for retirement. The question is, “I want to save for retirement, how do I get started?” There are three easy ways you can begin contributing to your MO Deferred Comp retirement savings account.
- Log in to your deferred comp account by visiting www.modeferredcomp.org or through the ESS Portal. Select Change Contributions from the 457 drop down box in the middle of the page and update your contribution amount with a dollar or percentage of your choice. For step-by-step instructions, check out the HOW TO LOG ON TO ACCOUNT ACCESS and HOW TO CHANGE YOUR CONTRIBUTION publications.
- You can also call 800-392-0925 and speak to a deferred comp Participant Services Representative. They can help you establish your contribution and take a lot of the guesswork out of the process.
- The last way – and my personal favorite – is to schedule a meeting with your local financial education professional. These deferred comp employees can help you determine how much to save, assist with setting up your contribution to the plan, and answer any questions you may have along the way. To schedule a meeting with an education professional, visit www.modeferredcomp.org and click on the gold Event Registration button at the top of the page.
Getting started is easy. Taking a little bit of time to do it is the hard part. If you need any help along the way, please do not hesitate to contact the MO Deferred Comp Plan.
